UPPER HANOVER TOWNSHIP PLANNING COMMISSION AND BOARD OF SUPERVISORS JOINT WORKSHOP

 MEETING MINUTES OF JUNE 17, 2009

 

 

 

Call to Order and Roll Call

 

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Planning Commission Chairman Beverly Mudd.  Planning Commission members in attendance included Herbert Carter, Jackie Fiorito, William Kalb and Beverly Mudd.  Board of Supervisors members in attendance included Shannan Bieler, Eugene Fried, Mary Gibbs Kershner and Eugene Marks.

Citizens in attendance did not present comments.

 

Announcement of New/Revised Plan/Zoning Receipt

 

The new submissions were noted.

 

Rezoning - Discussion

 

Mr. Carter suggested that the 20 acres located behind the parcel previously considered for a Lowes along Kraussdale Road be considered for rezoning to a CB – Commercial Business use.  Discussion ensued regarding appropriate uses on this property.

 

Bob Downs and Peter Zavitsanos expressed an interest for rezoning their property located across from Brown Printing that is presently zoned as LI – Light Industrial.  Mr. Downs and Mr. Zavitsanos expressed an interest in having a broader range of options for the property.

 

It was noted that areas located behind Lesher’s Mill were lost as a result of the installation of a cell phone tower.  Rezoning in the Lesher Mill Road area was discussed. 

 

Mrs. Kershner left the meeting while a discussion ensued regarding the possible rezoning of a parcel owned by Mrs. Kershner located near Hendricks Road and then re-entered the meeting.

 

A discussion ensued regarding the use of transferable development rights in Upper Hanover Township.

 

Upper Perkiomen Valley Regional Comprehensive Plan Updates

 

Mrs. Bieler reviewed the Regional Natural Resources Chapter. 

 

Further discussion ensued regarding retail goals and outdoor recreation.  It was recommended that Charles Guttenplan review the regional plan further.

 

Adjournment

 

Mrs. Fiorito moved to adjourn the meeting at 9:31 p.m. The motion was seconded by Mr. Kalb and carried affirmatively.
