Township Services
If you have moved here from a larger municipality, you may be accustomed to all public services being provided directly by the municipality to residents. Residents in Upper Hanover Township have public services delivered in a variety of ways, including direct service by Township employees, third-party service providers contracted by the Township, Montgomery County Services, State Services, Volunteer Services, and services obtained by private subscription. Here is a helpful breakdown of the most frequently utilized services listed on this website. Please note that Trash and Recycling Collection is by private subscription. Emergency Services include Police, Fire, and EMS/Ambulance Services. Upper Hanover Township does not have its own Police Department. Instead, police coverage is provided by the Pennsylvania State Police, Skippack Barracks. Fire Protection Services are provided by Volunteer Fire Companies located in the neighboring Boroughs of East Greenville, Pennsburg, and Red Hill. EMS & Ambulance Service is primarily provided by the Upper Perkiomen Valley Ambulance Association.
Administration. The heart of the Township, Administration is where you will find forms and applications, staff contact information, and a quick link to request assistance or report a concern. The Township Manager and administrative staff will be more than happy to assist you if you can't find what you are looking for online.

Public Records Request. If you can't find what you are looking for online, you may request a public record. Please read our Public Records Policy before filing a Right-to-Know application. Documents such as current year Resolutions, Minutes, and Agendas are all available online. Routinely requested documents such as the Zoning Map and Fee Schedules are also available online.
Community Development is a term that includes Building Department Services, Code Enforcement Services, Planning and Development Activities, and Zoning
Services. In Upper Hanover Township, all of these services are provided by a third-party consulting firm contracted with by the Township. All applications and fees must still be submitted directly to the Township.
Road Department. The Township Road Department is headed by Road Department Supervisor Jayme Benfield.
Find out about the Road Department's responsibilities, contact Jayme Benfield, report a road obstruction, or request assistance. All Road improvement projects, roadside maintenance, and park maintenance are coordinated by the Road Department.

Parks and Recreation services are provided by the Township. If you are interested in reserving a facility or looking for a park to visit, please explore this page. Township Staff maintains and cleans the Township's three parks and Mill Hill Nature Preserve. The Township Parks & Recreation Board manages requests for use of the parks for special events, plans for future improvements, and coordinates reservations by local sports teams for use of the athletic fields.
Open Space & Farmland Preservation. The Township has an active Agricultural Security District and receives new applications for inclusion on a regular basis. In addition, the Township owns multiple parcels of open space throughout the Township and is responsible for the maintenance of those properties. The Township also partners with Montgomery County to contribute to the preservation of local farms via the purchase of conservation easements. This program is headed by the Montgomery County Farmland Preservation Board.
Recycling and solid Waste services are by private subscription in Upper Hanover Township. This means that you choose a private hauler that includes Upper Hanover Township in its service area, and you contract directly with that provider. All households are required to have a lawful means of disposing of trash and recycling. The burning of trash, construction materials and recyclables is illegal.
The Township does contract with John Miller and Son, Inc. for a once-per-month yard waste drop-off service. Also, Montgomery County provides Household Hazardous Waste Collection days and other recycling services.
Sewer and Water Services are available for designated areas in the Township. Where public water is available, it is provided by The Upper Hanover Authority. Where public sewer is available, it is provided by either The Upper Hanover Authority [TUHA] or by Upper Montgomery Joint Authority [UMJA].
